Before an Estate Sale

Don’t clean anything out ahead of time.
Items that may seem outdated or insignificant—tapes, CDs, papers, tools, or everyday household goods—often have value to collectors and buyers. The only things to remove in advance are personal keepsakes or family heirlooms you wish to hold onto.

Avoid sorting, donating, or “pre-purging.”
Decisions made too early can unintentionally remove value. It’s always best to let a professional assess the full contents first.
